Continuing Professional Development Labs with Scottish Drama Training Network
New for 2017.
SDTN is introducing a new series of practical CPD Labs, starting with a two day event in January 2017 for lecturers of Acting and Performance, held at the National Theatre of Scotland's state-of-the-art new home, Rockvilla, on Glasgow's canal.
These workshops are professional development opportunities exclusively for Network staff and are designed to develop existing skills and knowledge, while providing opportunities for shared learning.
Friday 20 January, 10am – 4.30pm
Lab 1: Rehearsal Room with Cora Bissett.
A practical workshop for directors, with leading Scottish Theatre director Cora Bissett, exploring a range of approaches and techniques applied in rehearsal.
Scripts will be provided to participants in advance of the workshop.
Cora recently directed Jumpy for the Lyceum Theatre Company and Glasgow Girls for the Edinburgh Fringe and UK tour. Cora is also an actor and will bring both the director’s and actor’s perspectives to the workshop.

Lab 2: Acting for Camera with Mel Churcher
This is a practical workshop for lecturers who are teaching Acting for Camera skills or who are planning to start teaching this unit.
Mel is one of the top dialogue and acting coaches in movies. She has worked on over 50 major film and TV projects. The full list can be found on Imdb.
She has directed and taught in most of the major London drama colleges, and has delivered training sessions for SDTN since 2013.
She currently directs showreels for third year CDT students at Royal Central School Speech and Drama and teaches on the MA Actor Training and Coaching there. She regularly runs screen-acting courses in Germany and Spain, and at the Actors Centre, London and Actor’s Studio, Pinewood. Mel has recently worked on a film project with drama students from Zurich University of the Arts.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided each day. The Scottish Drama Training Network are providing the Labs to Network memebers with no charge, however, places are limited. If you book a place but can no longer attend, please cancel your booking as soon as possible to allow someone else to attend.
